I'm thinking about a Droid X I see on craigslist for $45.

Dude listed is as a Razer.

Oppo, should I take the plunge from WebOS to a mobile os that is supported nd developed for?

No!

Stick to your principles man. Get a Windows Phone device.

Fuck Developers!

I have a Lumia 920 and adore it. The 520 is a very good budget smartphone.

Ehhhhh the Droid X is already pretty outdated. If you spend just a bit more money you can get something much more acceptable. There's plenty of decent options in the $100-150 range. I assume you're on Verizon?

Don't do it! I went through 3 Palm Pre's in my time before migrating (Buy another one and after activating your phone, it should be back to normal in 30 minutes)

Or go for a Phone where you can install Cyanogenmod Android and a lot feels like WebOS.

And the 625 is quite cheap, but with a helluva screen!

Yeah I'm on Verizon. The droid x is light years ahead of my previous phone.

I cried when my pre was eaten by my bird. I can't stand android and I have problems with iOS, windows phone 8 is surprisingly pretty OK and the Nokia lumias have amazing cameras.

I've had several android phones. You really want something that's running at least android 4.1. It's way better.

If you're not on contact anymore and want to stick with Verizon, you should really look at the Moto G on Verizon prepaid. It's $99 for a brand new phone and $60/mo for unlimited talk, text and 2 GB of data. You can go up to 4 GB of data for another $10/mo.

I'm off contract and need to stay with my current contract. I have unlimited data on my phone + 5gb of hot spot data. Our home internet is currently a 4g JetPack. If we change our plan we'll have to change to "Share everything" and we'll get screwed.

I do miss having a fully functional terminal on my phone... having to purchase an app for SSH just pisses me off.

./ configure

make

make install

*sigh*

6.5 could do anything. poorly, but it could do it.

Well. You still shouldn't get a Droid X. It's stuck on Android 2.3 and has not enough CPU grunt. Android 4.0 was a huge improvement in overall look and feel, and Android 4.1 made a huge improvement in overall smoothness. I did some checking and found some phones that are all on Android 4.1 or newer, have decent specs, and are available for under $100 on eBay:

LG Lucid 2

Motorola Droid RAZR M

Samsung Galaxy Nexus
